<p>1) Make sure you eat a good breakfast. It keeps your energy levels stable and keeps your metabolism high.</p>
<p>2) Fill your plate with veggies and eat them first. If you split your plate into 4 sections two of them, or half the plate, should be veggies. That leaves 1/4 for a meat item and 1/4 for a starch.</p>
<p>3) Remove liquids with calories from your diet plan. This includes soda&#8217;s and juices. Switching from regular Coke to Diet Coke saves you 180 calories from a 12 ounce can. That&#8217;s 65,700 calories a year or almost 19 pounds.</p>
<p>4) Try to avoid caffeine. It will give you that temporary boost in energy and dull your appetite, but later you&#8217;ll feel even worse and twice as hungry. And the more hungry you are the more likely you are to binge.</p>
<p>5) Switch from whole milk to 1% or skim milk.</p>
<p>6) Drink at least 64 ounces of water a day.</p>
<p>7) If you&#8217;re feeling hungry have a glass of water first. Often we think we are hungry when in reality we are thirsty. Even if it is true hunger the water will fill you up a little and you&#8217;ll be less likely to overeat.</p>

<p>9) Keep your portions reasonable. Portions should be the size of your fist or the size of a deck of cards. Stay away from &#8220;supersize&#8221; portions</p>
<p>10) Eat at a slower pace. It can take 15 minutes for our brains to register that we are full so if you&#8217;re eating fast you&#8217;re probably eating too much.</p>
<p>11) Eat more soup. They are filling and good for you. Stick with the non-cream soups that are low in calories and often high in fiber.</p>
<p>12) Eat every 3 hours to keep your metabolism high, hunger at bay and your blood sugar levels stable.</p>
<p>13) Use low calories condiments like mustard instead of fatty ones like mayonnaise.</p>
<p>14) Keep a food journal, especially if you&#8217;re just starting to diet. There are lots of them available online. My favorite free one is at FitDay.com</p>
<p>15) If you&#8217;re eating out get a doggie bag and put half your meal into it for later or even better for someone else. A typical meal out will have 1000+ calories, not including bread, appetizers, drinks etc.</p>
<p>16) When eating out skip the dessert. If you simply have to have that triple fudge chocolate layer cake share it with someone.</p>
<p>17) Treat yourself once a week. Even the strongest of us have weak moments. If you know that you&#8217;ll get a break once a week it&#8217;s much easier to stick with your diet for the other 6 days.</p>
<p>18) Exercise regularly. Even if you just walk 20-30 minutes a day the benefits are amazing. You&#8217;ll lose not just from the calories you burn during exercise, but also from the boost in metabolism.</p>
<p>19) Find an exercise partner. It helps to know that someone is counting on you to show up at the gym. And it makes it more like an appointment and thus harder to skip out on.</p>
<p>20) Limit the amount of alcohol you drink. Try to drink only on weekends and limit yourself to one or two glasses.</p>
<p>Even using just a few of the tips can save you hundreds of calories daily and take off some unwanted pounds. I am not that overweight to begin with and dropped almost 10 pounds just by cutting soda out of my diet plan and drinking more water. The reason is that you are    going to have to think about where your calories come from. You would need to eat the most nutritious foods you can find in order for you body get what it    needs. <p>The best thing you can do with these tips is to write them down somewhere. Get a notebook or some printer paper Write your goal at the top. Something like &#8220;I will have no cellulite on my thighs by (you fill in the date)&#8221;<br />
Make it some thing like two months out. You want this goal to challenge you but so much that you set yourself up for failure.</p>
<p>NEVER set yourself up for failure.</p>
<p>Now list each exercise to get rid of cellulite on that piece of paper as the things you are going to do to achieve this goal.</p>
<p>Now put that piece of paper somewhere that you can see it every day. I know it sounds trite but TRUST me it will remind you of your goal and will motivate you to achieve it.</p>

<p>This one is really easy. Just do something ANYTHING that gets your heart rate up for an hour a day. Hey you can start with 30 minutes. Heck 15 minutes if thats all you can do. Just get started and work your way up to an hour as you go.<br />

<p>Stock the fridge with healthy snacks that are prepared and ready to go. Peel those carrots and cut them up into nice bite sized chunks. Place those in a container with water in the fridge. You can do this with many vegetables so its nice to have a small portion of different veggies lined up. Cucumbers, radishes and celery are great for this kind of thing.</p>
<p>If your on the go get yourself a small cooler that you can stock up with good healthy treats.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The food pyramid guide will help you to understand the guidelines set out by the United States Government and give you the straight up real deal about the food groups and a healthy diet.</p>
<p><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-172" title="thefoodpyramidguide" src="http://www.quickestwaytoloseweightnow.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/thefoodpyramidguide1-300x238.jpg" alt="thefoodpyramidguide" width="300" height="238" />Beginning in 1988 the US government came up with the idea of a graphic depiction with similar ideas to the one you see here. This is where the idea of food groups started.</p>
<p>The Food Guide Pyramid was released in 1992 which depicted the four food groups and conveyed the idea that certain groups of foods were to be eaten or consumed sparingly.</p>
<p>However to this day Americans remain confused about what to eat because of the many recommendations and diet plans that flood the market.</p>
<p>The Food Pyramid Guide that has been put out by the US Government has gone through many changes over the years.</p>
<p>There are now 6 food groups. A you can see on food group picture above they are all basically derived from the original 4 groups. The exception is the Fats, Oils and Sweets group.</p>
<p>Here are the groups broken down by the original 4 food groups.<span id="more-170"></span></p>

<p>If you&#8217;ll notice from the picture above, each groups area within the pyramid takes up a different amount of space. This is what is used to depict the quantity of that food group that you should be consuming on a daily basis.</p>
<p>Fats, oils and sweets should be eaten very sparingly according to the food pyramid guide. You should be getting 2 to 3 servings a day from the Milk and Cheese group and 2 to 3 servings from the Meats, Beans and Eggs group.</p>
<p>3 to 5 servings of Vegetables should be consumed and 2 to 4 servings from the Fruit group should be sufficient for good health according to the United States Government.</p>
<p>The last group depicted in the food pyramid guide is the Breads, Cereals and Pasta group. The guide recommends 6 to 11 servings from this group per day.</p>
<p>One of the things that many people find confusing about this diagram is the servings and the way the recommendations are worded.</p>
<p>11 servings of pasta? Thats seems odd; most people eat three times a day so its hard to judge how much pasta you should be eating on a daily basis.  Lets see if we can clear this up.</p>
<p>Fats:</p>
<p>There are good fats and oils, and there are bad fats and oils. Good fats and oils come from fish, nuts and vegetable oils. Bad fats and oils usually come in things like butter, stick margarine, shortening and lard. Try to make most of the oils and fat the you eat be from fish and nuts. Everybody loves peanut butter and peanut butter is great source of good fats and oils. Keep this to a minimum but a couple of ounces each day is a nice way to get these much needed nutrients.</p>
<p>Meats and Beans:</p>
<p>Try to choose lean and low fat meats like poultry and lean beef. Variety is the key here and its important to get a good mix of fish in there too. Instead of eating beef all the time try to have fish at least a few times a week and try to substitute most of your beef intake with chicken instead. When it come to beans try to have a variety in stock. some dry beans that you might want to try are black-eyed peas, chickpeas (or garbanzo beans), falafel, lentils, lima beans and navy beans. As a guideline the food pyramid guide recommends that a half of a cup of beans would make a serving.</p>
<p>Milk, Cheese and Yogurt:</p>
<p>All milk and many of the foods that are made from milk like cheese is part of this group. It is important to note here that not all foods that are made from milk would be in this category because not all of them retain enough of the calcium content to make them such. So things like cream, cream cheese and butter don&#8217;t make the cut.</p>
<p>Vegetables:</p>
<p>When it comes to vegetable you want to focus on on Dark Leafy veggies, Orange Veggies and beans or peas. Here is an example of some of the vegetables that would far in each category.</p>
<p>Dark leafy vegetables would include bok choy,  broccoli,  collard greens,  dark green leafy lettuce,  kale,  mesclun and mustard greens. Orange vegetables would be things like carrots and sweet potatoes. Beans and peas are also part of this category.</p>
<p>A half a cup to a cup of this food group makes up a serving.</p>
<p>Grains:</p>
<p>This includes bread, cereal, rice and pasta. Grains are divided into two categories, Whole grains and refined grains. You should try to eat at least half whole grain. Since whole grain crackers, bread and cereal are pretty easy to come try to eat those.</p>
<p>Oats are another good source of whole grains also brown rice instead of white rice if you are one to eat a lot of rice.</p>
<p>You should be eating about 6 to 8 ounces of grains per day depending on your age. If you are over 51 you should drop that down to 4 to 6 ounce and remember that half of that should be whole grain products.</p>
<p>I hope that this helps to clear up any confusion that you may have had about what makes a healthy diet according to the food pyramid guide. I have only touched on the information that is available here.</p>
